March 19, 2005: (Pictures added - 5/7/2005)

Yup, I once again took a day off for a road trip on my b-day. Well, my b-day happens to be on Saturday this year so I took Friday off as well to start my 3-day weekend journey. I am telling you I am loving it!!! Nothing beats a little weekend getaway alone to be so relaxed.

I picked Ocracoke, NC for my trip this year. Why?!?!? I have no F'ing clue.. Well, I pretty much took out an east coast map, closed my eyes and just point my finger on the map then there ya go... Ocracoke, NC.... (I am glad I didn't point too far right of the island though, otherwise I would have been in the Atlantic Ocean this year..)

The weather wasn't too bad for the weekend (average 50 - 60 degrees) although it could be a little nicer. The trip was about 7 hours from MD to the island. When I got to Hatteras, I had to take the ferry (free) to Ocracoke island. I arrived Island pretty late on the first day so I checked in at the local lodge and just went right to my room, watched some movies and went to sleep. On the 2nd day, I woke up around 9:30 and had the breakfast (free) and started my tour of the Island. The island is such a nice place. It is quiet and people are nice. The view from the beach is grrreat!! I actually got to drive on the beach in my Xterra. I was glad I brought it because it's so much fun driving on the beach, especially when I got too close to the water and almost got myself in trouble. I had to lower my tire pressure to about 23 psi since that's what they recommended for beach driving. After spent about 3/4 of the day touring the island and 4-wheeling on the beach, I went back to my room and called it the day. On the last day of the trip, I woke up around 8 and started packing for home. I left about 10 am and slowly driving back to DC area. It was kind a bad idea driving through VA beach since many people were on their way back home too from the beach. It took me more than 8 hrs to get back home. Oh, the best part of this trip - I couldn't get any cell phone signal so nobody bothered me!!!

My friend wants to go 4-wheeling on the beach too so I've decided to go back again this Memorial weekend. We will be camping this time rather than staying at the hotel. We'll bring some fishing gear with us and hopefully we can catch us some seafood for dinner! hehehe well, stay tuned for the pictures...
